Linksys Ether16 Lan Card

There have been two occasions where customers reported getting the following error attempting to use the Linksys Ether16 LAN card with the DOS and Windows 3.X version of Invisible LAN:

3070 Presence test failed

The error occurs when using the the NE2000 Hardware Type in the Adapter Independent software.

The controller chip has one of these "YES, it runs with Netware" labels on it, so it is not easy for the customer to identify the controller chip. We obtained one of the cards and peeled back the label. The Ethernet controller has a DLxxxx marking on it, and we concluded that it is a D-Link Ethernet controller chip.

Hence, the correct Network Hardware Type is:

DLINK_2000

This has been confirmed with Linksys's tech support.
