QEMM and 386Max Compatibility

Compatibility issues with QEMM and 386MAX, when using the DOS and Windows 3.X version of Invisible LAN, are as follows:

OPTIMIZE, QEMM's memory optimization command, and 386MAX, if run on a system also running InvisibleLAN, will very likely place DEVICEHIGH- or LOADHIGH-type statements on the network device drivers (CACHE30.SYS and N30DEV.SYS) in CONFIG.SYS and may place a LOADHIGH-type command on the NET30 command in AUTOEXEC.BAT. This must be avoided, as it may cause problems properly loading or operating the network. Changes of this nature can be cured or avoided as follows:

• If OPTIMIZE OR 386MAX has already been run, remove the DEVICEHIGH and/or LOADHIGH statements using an editor such as DOS's EDIT. Consult your DOS manual for information on this editor.

• Avoid the changes by placing REMARK (or REM) statements on the lines containing the InvisibleLAN program lines in CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT prior to running OPTIMIZE OR 386MAX. Remove the REMARKs after OPTIMIZE or 386MAX has completed its run.

• Configure OPTIMIZE or 386MAX to prompt you before making each change to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Consult the documentation on OPTIMIZE or 386MAX for further information.

No further incompatibilities with QEMM or 386MAX are known as of the date of this document.
